The Incredible Power of Praise

presented by the ceo, matthew gray

Every time we interact with our children, we create a bond of love and nit the relationship with our children, the way parents speak and the words they say to them stay with them forever and creates a lifelong impression on the child.

A growing number of parents are aware about the impacts of their words leave on the children. A large number of population of parents have understood the importance of praise and have adopted to praise and motivate their children, yet the is lot more to the technique of praising children, it is not only to say ‘Wow you did a good job!’. It is the amount of praise and the way we appreciate them makes a huge difference and brings a massive difference on how they behave and deliver the best results.

Below are outlined some of  the basic and most common scenarios to praise and appreciate children and also outlining best way of communicating, that helps the little child to not only feel proud and confident about themselves but also gives them deeper understanding about their strengths and weakness.

Scenario 1:

General praise: Wow, you are  excellent at maths!

Impact: The idea that creeps into the child’s mind, through general praise maybe that he/she is excellent at maths, and do not need to focus or maybe not pay further attention in maths. These kinds of open ended sentences can maybe misleading or sometimes damaging to a child’s future ability in any particular subject.

Descriptive praise: I have noticed you have been working out hard to work out the right answers, to these problems, you have greatly improved your skills in maths.

Scenario 2:

General praise: You were being really amazing today!

Impact: makes a child to be self obsessed and overstating his/her own abilities. Does not give specific information on what they did well and how to repeat the good action again.

Descriptive praise: I really liked that you shared your toys with your friends and siblings, I can see that you are getting more responsible and caring, I am so happy about it.

Scenario 3:

General praise: You are quite active, You will be winning all the competitions on the sports day!

Impact: These praises might negatively effect the moral of children, when they do not win, and make them weak and morally vulnerable in the event of failure.

Descriptive praise: On most of the practice sessions you had a good concentration, which meant you could run fast than last time, well done!

Scenario 4:

General praise: You are a superstar in the class!

Impact:These praises can excessively boost moral of the child and may also lead to behavioural issues, as for little children are not completely experienced to handle vague and bogus talks. These praises also don’t give specifics to a child on his/her areas of improvements.

Descriptive praise: You pronounced the words clearly having a constant smile on your face and facing towards the audience, you looked very excited saying your lines. I loved to watch your performance.

Scenario 5:

General Praise: You could be an excellent painter when you grow up!

Impact: Doesn’t focus on efforts and present abilities of a child.

Descriptive praise:  You seem to have good knowledge about the colours and canvas, would you show me how to mix, these colours?

It is important that parents and carers are mindful of their praises and the idea they convey through their words. A descriptive praise is often more useful as it gives more understanding of the family values and rules, and gives children greater understanding of their weakness and areas of improvements. Descriptive praises are a powerful tool to help children become willing to accept failure and stand back up for a new challenge.

Bhahubali – The epic saga of the Indian way of life.

The most awaited story of the year Bhahubali has reached the streets of our towns, cities and villages. People of all ages has appraised and completely enjoyed watching the story of “Bhahubali -The most powerful invincible destroyer of evil”.

The story depicts Bhahubali’s endevours as DharmaYudha, and portrays his magnificent ways of establishing Dharma in the society for the betterment of the common mortals. The story of Bhahubali is yet again the retelling of the epics of Ramayan, Mahabratha. Where a righteous King tries to destroy the evil and is the source of happiness and prosperity for his subjects. Like every other Indian, when I watched the movie I couldn’t stop myself of being mesmerised and experiencing overwhelming joy watching victory to Bahubali.

The purpose of the story seems severe that the society celebrates his victory and a belief is spread across the nation that misery, poverty, inequality has come to an end.

Let’s understand how Bhahubali win the battle with the corrupt ruler. Bhahubali is supported by the common man. Thousand of young lads slay their lives, participating in the war as soldiers, the citizens sacrifice their comforts and unite to take part in the war. Every one in the country forgo their individual needs and stand for the nation. So many individual do this only in the hope of better life after the war is won.

Citizens irrespective of their go to the battlefield or stay back home inevitably lay a huge faith in the might and power of Bahubali, collectively praying for him and thus making him enormously powerful and strong. They all feel the saviour has come, to end injustice. And therefore it is inevitable that Bahubali will rise, the little timid boy form a far off land will have all the Bal.

This kind of a Dharma Yudha was taken place in the epic of Ramayan, a similar events took place in Mahabharata. Were millions of common people were butchered and they lay faith in one man to change their destiny. In a belief that after the vijay of Dharma, there will be happiness in the society. Misery will end, poverty and illiteracy will end. The lowest of the people in the society, believed to be able to enjoy two square meals. The poorest had faith that they will be able to raise their standards of living.

However as we, go through the pages of the history this has never happened. After having won the Dharma Yudha each time in the times of Rama, Krishan and many other Bhahubalis. Even today a large number off the population is still living in filth! Why have we lost it? why poverty and illiteracy still prevails in the society?  I wish to ask the Bahubali’s of the Indian history why haven’t we seen a sustainable change in the standard of living of the people? why are we still struggling as the third world country?

Or most of all why does luck favour the evil in the first? How do a handful of individuals get away with their corrupt ways of life and become so powerful?

Well the answer, to most of these questions lie in these epic themselves. The reasons behind lack of Dharma lies very much in these stories itself. The stories of Rama, Krishna and Bahubali is not about establishing Dharma, which will ensure prosperity in the society by empowering every citizen.

But the story is about making “ONE human being” the “God” the “Devta” immensely knowledgeable, powerful, the Dukharata, Palankarta. Who is capable of destroying misery and providing happens to all.

All the layman and women in the society from birth go through a psychological process of considering themselves worthless and dependent on the Dukharata for their happiness and removal of misery. The stories just like those of Bhahubali’s teach the common citizen that the cause of misery is someone else mightier, powerful and those problems can be taken care only be taken away by someone else equally powerful and mightier. The solution to their problems lies with someone else and common mortals can not do anything about it. The people are made to believe someone else will be their Dukhharta. People start to assume themselves as useless entities, unless they are guided by a supreme man, the Devata.

The Indian population has never been stories of common man being victorious in his life. Not many of the historical stories talks about individual capabilities. We are never been told that each one of us is equally capable, just like the Devata man to achieve high standards in life. We become are what stories we have learnt in our lifetimes. If we were told stories of laying same amount of faith and belief in our own capabilities rather than anyone else. We would have had a different history all together.

The citizen in the movie Bhahubali choose to suffer, yes “choose” to suffer for 25 years waiting for Bhahubali to return and help them erode their misery and suffering and save them. To take away all their pain, given by a evil King. This event really makes me wonder, a nation of few hundred thousand is waiting to seek help for ONE PERSON. Can not they collectively throw away a handful of corrupt evil Royal’s for their wrong doings? Instead they choose to wait, they accepted to be exploited at the hands of Bhalladev. Only If they had known about strength of their faith, and belief and placed it in themselves instead in the might of Bhahubali. Then, even ages before Bhahubali must have returned, the country would had got rid of the corrupt King, and might have been happier.

Instead they waited for the Dukharta, Devta, expecting someone out there to save them from the misery. The belief that kept these people bounded, and eventually weekend the whole society.

The common forgot that these Bhahubalis and Bhalladevs claimed their powers by making everyone else assume inferior and powerless. The powerful hid their mortality and weakness behind the golden doors of their palaces. Built by by the common man toiling all day long under the sun, funded by the taxes paid by the commons working in fields, roads or in offices. And namelessly dying in the battles for power for the the powerful, not Dharma.

It is time we start clearly understanding the roles of a leader, and be aware if a leader is being elevated to the standards of God!!

Yes their is a super power who has created all of the universe. But it is not the almighty’s job to keep us happy and fulfilled in our day to day lives. The almighty has blessed each individual with all the same five sense as he would bless a Devta, in the same mortal body.  And super powerful brain to think to rational and to question.

If we are going to live in the false idea waiting for the new age Bhahubali/ leaders to return and help and save the nation. Or waiting for Mahatams to take the nation to prosperity, then yet again we not getting any where.  And yet again the nation is waiting to be looted.  Because many Bhalladev’s are going to take advantage of our belief’s and fool us.

It is time individuals take action for their own pain. If their is an issue in your neighbourhood, take action, try to fix it within the neighbourhood. If there is someone corrupt and enjoying false benefits its our own duty to stop these people. Don’t wait and loose the battle, instead win it at the root. It is not just Bhahubali but each one of us capable of throwing away Bhallade’s only if we laid confidence and faith in ourselves and choose to take actions early on. Rather than waiting for some Dukharta to emerge from ashes.

Defer judgements, make space for creativity

hey

Has this ever happened to you, you are stuck in a traffic or travelling in busy train, you look out of window and from no where, a tiny little idea jumps in your mind.

“I could  make a system to smooth the traffic” – response ” No its not your job.”

“Let me try to make a solar gadget”- response “Na, Na it won’t work, don’t waste your time”.

“Let me draw a sketch of the beautiful garden”- response “No it is a rubbish though. You think you are an artist”

What do you think would have happened to these sprouting ideas which were responded with “No it is not your job”   “It won’t work!”, “No you aren’t an artist”.

Yes!! they will fade away, washed away from memory.

whoever experiences such a situation, has not only got rid of a so called silly thought but the world has also lost a budding architect, an outstanding engineering and a famous painter in the dusk of no where. And the world continues to lose  many more brilliant innovators and pioneers whose tiny ideas are responded with a “No”.

Let’s try to work and understand who is judging the world. Who stomped the budding architect? Who crushed the outstanding engineer? The artist?

Who do you think it is?  your boss? or your partner? No, look in the  mirror and you will spot the most powerful person who can possibly stop you. Yes it is none other than yourself. We stop ourselves and kill our creativity.

It is your very own conscious, regulated disciplined and very tactful brain. An Adult human brain which is equipped to scan sort and trash information in everyday life.

But wait a minute! Mr. disciplined and tactful brain, you ability to process information is speeding up and your scanning and sorting is not only also crumbing  unwanted information, but also my special gift, my Creativity!!

“It is not that I’m so smart. But I stay with the questions much longer.”
Albert Einstein

People all around the globe have such amazing big and small ideas and creative solutions to change the world. It is creativity and intellect which  has shaped and changed the world for a better living. Every day innovative solutions to stagnant issues continues to change the world. And not revolt or blood shed which the masses may believe brings a change. A sapling of a new idea, to do things differently.

As much as we know about the power of creativity, we also know sometimes, unfortunately curiosity and stupidity are confused. And because of this arises the fear of rejection. Therefore most ideas don’t even make it to the lime light. So many wonderful ideas lay buried in our minds. And fade away in darkness. Only because we judge ourselves and stop ourselves from venturing into unknown.

Saying a definite “NO” kills the idea and make us move on with day to day life. But saying a “Yes” is a risky area to be for most of us. It certainly does makes space for ideas to grow, but it may lead to a mental battle. What if things don’t work out, the way we plan? What if, one is looked down upon?   and many more.

In such a tossing situation, what could be possibly done? Well a possible solution could be respond to your ideas with a  “Maybe”.  Maybe I can try this new idea, maybe it might work for me.

Maybe, is a safe place to be you see, where you don’t have to engage in the painful battle with your fears and doubts. Maybe, allows space for the creativity to breath a little, spread and grow and sprout out beautifully. “Maybe” could be your best tool to defer your judgement.

Next time before you are scanning, sorting and trashing ideas tell yourself “maybe I must slow down a little, maybe these ideas stand a chance to be tried”. And who knows it might turn out to be the best thing that ever happened to you.

Wait a little, slide into the skin of the child inside you, who is fearless, experimental and very curious. Open up to the world of possibilities, maybe its worth trying.

There is no quick fix, to a problem is there any?

Fixing_Leadership_Skills

There are times, when we want change to happen and we want it to happen quick and fix all the issues at once.
Let me narrate you a story of understanding of the law of the “Quick Fix” solution and why on earth it never works?
I had a long awaited wedding in my family, and the preparations of the wedding had began from the day the wedding day was decided, everyone was excited and I was getting ready to pick up all our might and lose the extra kilos which I felt that now was the most critical time to lose all the unwanted love handles to look my best.
I had laid out a beautiful Quick Fix plan, as I was super busy at work so I could not find enough time to get good workout, therefore I decided to pick up a crash diet just 2 weeks before the wedding so that I can lose required weight and still look my best, I had a quick fix solution which is rather hard and tiring process in regular days. It  was a dream walk, but no sooner my dreams were turned into a nightmare when just 2 weeks before the wedding the scheduled kick off date of my diet I feel sick and there was nothing I could do to follow the diet, as I was already low on energy and the wedding was so close that I should attend the wedding irrespective if I lose weight or not, the expected still needs to be done. I had to think of a new plan and also start executing one straight away.
I decided to take the usual way out, for weight loss, eat balanced food and workout. I also was lucky that I did cut out on fried and sugary stuff for a month now which was not part of the quick fix solution.

After 4 days of sickness, I was back on my feet and I worked out for 2 hours each day an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening focusing all my energies on reducing my belly fat and my love handles. It was a limited period of intense workouts everyday in the preparations of the D day. And finally on the wedding day after dedicated workouts and eating good balance diet I managed to shed all my unwanted picture spoilers. I wore my attire and flaunted my flat abs and picture perfect body. It was a great accomplishing feeling, yet it was a fearful thought, I was worried no matter how hard I worked out in past few weeks in the intense focused sessions I will still put the unwanted weight. I was worried once the wedding fever is over at things are back to normal I will again land up at the same place from where I started. And each, in the future whenever time there will be a huge event lined up in my life I will have to go through the same rigorous process. That night bouncing between happiness sense of accomplishment and despair for the future, juggling in my thoughts  I cracked the secrets of keeping fit at all times and picture ready for any big or small events. And that was “Todays mess must be cleared before the end of the day today, not over the weekend or before any big event, today, now” and you will never end up in tiring intense workout sessions, you will feel the freedom of living your life without having the image of a trapped chicken, who worries about the few extra kilos every now and then each time a celebration  or a party comes up.
And a week later of picking up this attitude of identifying and clearing up each day’s mess that very day’s mess me realize that my my complains and unsatisfied behaviour about my looks was not because I am at a certain age or any dam reason I give myself, but I had to face it because of my inabilities to identify and distinguish between today’s calories and preexisting weight and all this bigger accumulations made me feel trapped.
So, at the end of the story I wish to outline a point that the failure in a particular task is not because of all the x factors we identify but primary because of the weak task identifying pattern and the kind of negative relationship, behaviour we have towards the said task.

Think of any problem in your life where you consider someone or something else responsible, for your backlog or failure no matter how temporary you Quick fix that issue with intended focused session like house hose clean up by intensive cleaning just before the guest arrives or, weight management where one must be learning about the food and the flaw-full behaviours towards food which leads to being obese and over weight people consider liposuction for weight loss or some magical food for weight loss. Once you Quick fix the issue be prepared for another liposuction next next year.

Or for example people who face debt or financial issues think all they problems will vanish once they a get a refinance or windfall gain, fixing it out by any other borrowing will only make the situations more worse. If one does not learn about money and cashflows and the basic ideas to manage income and expenses, soon in sometime will land up at the same place, because in the quick fix remedy process one does nothing to change the behavioural patterns, setup in ones mind. Once the quick remedy is applied you assume the problem is solved for good and go back to your routine habits which lead you again at the beginning of a similar issue that you fixed sometime ago. In other words you will have to alter your relationship with that task or issue, to avoid a new misery.

Finally any issue that isn’t getting solved over and again is clearly stating that the behavioural patterns which have become a part of the individual’s character, is what needs to be fixed by enhancing learning and identifying loopholes. You need to twist your thinking become innovative and change your routine to tackle the issue that you have cultivated over the years before any concrete changes happen to the issue itself, remember if you want to drop out of the loop of quick fix and problem tackling over and over again. Do not Quick fix.

Can looking good anywhere equal worship?

In the close premises of the school of my little one, is located a high school and everyday when I walk down the road that leads to his school I cross paths with numerous high school students.
image

And in that brief movement when I look at them the though that strikes me is their beauty, for children of this age the “Young Adults” it is most important to look beautiful and fab. And non of them misses this point and even in their similar uniforms every one looks uniquely pretty and handsome. They look as if, camera ready to walk the ramp, instead they are walking to “High School”.

And I wonder why as adults we don’t get this point to look good, as many of the adults look shabby or poorly dressed? Because at teenage we must have got it. Let’s explore here.
At the blissful age of, “Teenage” humans get engrossed with the the idea of looking beautiful and handsome. In some young people the need to look outstanding ranks too high. So in their attempts to look picture perfect mostly draws a lot of criticism and in no time sadly are called out as “Dumb Blondes” and “Jerks”. Many young people encounter judgemental statements like “maybe he/she doesn’t do well at high school!! Seems like he/she spends most of their time in front of the mirror”. And slowly as the years go by these young people get trapped in those prejudice in order to fit into the society they undertake the transformation and sadly they lose their individuality and grow ignorant and feel too old to take care of looks.
Feeling oh dear, I am a mother I can’t really find time for my looks anymore!! Oh boy, I am a responsible man can’t spend on my looks!!
This would be a similar story for the people aged 30 and above. For all these people I want to let you know that to spend time and money on beauty and looks is not wrong, it is not against godliness and something very similar to worship of God.

Weired again !! Taking care of looks, applying makeup, visit to a hairdresser equals worship? To all the beauty parlors and salons are now termed as holy shrines, this sound really understandable.

To understand the above statement we must understand the creator and his intentions, when he created this truly blissful plant earth. All that the things that he created hold one thing in common, that every little object in the universe is uniquely beautiful.
Look at the blue waters, at the beach you can’t miss it striking beauty!
image

Can you stop being mesmerised by the beauty of the bright sky and the beautiful birds, their vivid beautiful colors, the alluring toucan, the flamingo, the daffodil, the lily the snails? Isn’t the sight of a new born baby breathtaking? The apples and cherries on the trees don’t they offer a heavenly view? Anything that you name it, all that we believe is created by God is always infused with exquisite beauty.

image

Everything he creates is beautiful and
STOP!! look at us, “Humans” we stop taking care of the way we look because we are trapped in the judgments of others humans and choose to go in an undesired direction. Is the creator going to be happy to see you shabby? Look into the eyes of your mother, you will see the most beautiful thing on earth.

image

So what can be done? How can one break through the fears of being judged as “too old”, “too young” “too fat” “too slim” “too short” “too tall” “too dark” or “too white”. The way out is simple choose to look beautiful and “picture perfect” do not get into the traps of social judgements by friends, colleagues, or any person walking down the road, slid back into your teenage and do all the random experiments. Do all that makes you look beautiful, bolder, younger, take care of your hands, your hair, your skin, your face, wear the cowboy rugs that’s lying in your wardrobe for years and most importantly feel beautiful and only then truly beauty will equal worship since we pay our gratitude to our God for blessing us for all the beauties.

After all, that’s what means true worship to pay gratitude and remembrance to your Lord in each and every action in your life.

Why extra curricular activities? Why singing? Why swimming?

When I was just a wife, I believed being a mother would only involve taking care of the little baby and looking after his/her growth and nourishment.

However, it was only after I became a mother myself I realised the spectrum of the word “GROWTH”. It included not only academic and physical development but, it also involves life outside the academic circumference, i.e the extra curricular activities.

footer-right-igenius

I find myself doing this, every week from Monday to Saturday running from one activity to another from swimming, to tennis, to music, to arts and crafts and I see all other mothers doing the same.

I ask myself, am I getting trapped in a rat race? And am I imparting the same lesson to my child that life is a race??
I wanted to answer my conscious, therefore I decided to conducted a intensive research and finally came up with the real understanding that childhood is the time to learn and explore about the world around. According to a study conducted on childhood stimulation key to brain development shows the more the mental  stimulation a child gets closer to the age of 4 , will lead to massive development of brain and increase in problem solving ability. Children exposed to sports, music and crafts at young age tend to grow into creative adults, and have the ability for multi dimensional thinking. Here creativity is referred to an ability to find creative solutions to obscure problems in life. On the other hand, children who are not stimulated at a young age grow up to believe anything outside the academic world as alien stuff and finally conclude that maybe someone else can sing, or someone else can draw, but not “ME”.
Whereas the real reason for staying off the shore was that the little genius was never nourished and nurtured.

Therefore, I have taken a vow to help him explore the world all around him and, plant a belief that he can “Do it”, be it sports, music, arts and crafts.

And for a mother like me to keep going, I was excited to learn about the Max life Insurance – I genius singing competition for kids to make it big, which will be judged by eminent jury  Salim Merchant and Shraddha Sharma. Where the top 2 winners get an opportunity to record their first music album with Universal Music India.

By getting him involved, I want him to also learn the hidden power of goal and targets at an early age, so this little boy grows up in a superstar no matter which aspect of life he steps in.

The destiny of young child, is framed on the basis of determination of a mother.

Positive approach helps you save millions

image

We often come across various approaches towards life and widely accepted and encouraged approach by various motivational speaker is the positive mindset approach.

Think positive, be calm and approach surroundings with a positive response.

However in some scenarios, the person involved is so deeply engraved by the negatives of the surroundings, no matter how effective the positive approach maybe, the emotional imbalances pull back to the person to behave negatively, and keep falling deeper in the vicious circle.

To workout this challenge of negative surroundings, I have come up with a formula, which helps to calculate the money saved by staying positive in huge negative situation or small hindrance. Therefore one remains totally mindful and motivated to follow the “Stay calm, and carry on” approach “The “90% attitude and 10% environment”. formula for happiness.

So lets take up a scenario, of an upsetting situation, where your are pranked purposely by people around you. You tend to fall out of the frame of keep calm, you respond back either by anger, aggression or frustration. Your actions have a huge emotional drain on you and you are left with mental trauma and heavy head. And bingo here you are all, that you need to have an unproductive day and an unsuccessful career. Those are depression and trauma, which you have choose to pull out from the environmental prank.

If you behave differently, such as smile or ignore and let go of the prank/ politics. Keeping in focus your abilities and keep calm and carry on. This way you would not only end up being happy and stable also more productive.

I have devised a formula to demonstrate the keep calm and save millions

1 Negative Stimuli keep calm, let go

= 5 Hours of stable and happy mind
= 5 Hours of productivity

Note: 1 Hour pay rate = £8/hour (UK
Standard rate)

1 Hour productivity
= More satisfied clients per hour
= Greater business growth per Hour
= Greater chances of salary increase and recognition, higher bonus received.

All adds up to the annual outcome.

Keep calm, saved you from all the irrelevant losses and expenses that could have taken place due to lack of positive approach, which could include amounts spent on buying more
Coffee,
Cigarettes,
Office supplies,
Electricity bills( working long hours), Transportation cost ( taking a taxi back home)
And you loose chances of salary hike recognition and bonus.

This stands true even if you are self employed, you incur more expenses and loose all your valuable clients in just a blink of an eye.

5 Hours of efficient output = 8*5 = £40 investment each day.

Stay positive and carry on….

Trap of Poverty implanted by bed time stories

Money is bad

We must have heard that the most important ingredient required for winning is the attitude. Attitudes, behaviors and character are created by various sources.
All aspects of our life are governed by the attitudes we have towards our environment. If we tend to have a negative attitude, the blessings in life eventually fade away.
Money is a very important part of our surroundings and our negative attitudes as fear, detachment, or thinking it of evil all gradually lead to money vanishing from our lives.

“Financial Freedom is a Mental, Emotional and an Educational process” – Robert Kiyosaki (author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad)

I would today like to outline the bad attitudes and negative behavior towards money and identify and learn how they are seeded in my personality.

Attitudes and behaviors are cultivated through various inputs from our surroundings.

1. Parents
2. Social system
3. Culture
4. Religion

Here, I would pick “CULTURE” and highlight how negative attitudes and behaviors are created by cultures.

Cultural background is imparted from one generation mostly through the means of storytelling. Bed time stories and moral stories learnt at school, are a rich source of culture.

Let’s take a look 3 stories we tell our children relating to money and the underlying beliefs these stories form in relations to money and values created.

1) The woodcutter and 3 axes:

This story starts with a background explaining, a poor honest woodcutter ( note: honestly and poverty are linked) looses his only, iron axe in the river mistakenly and refuses to accept the golden axe, the sliver axe and accepts his the iron axe.
This story, sadly underlines honesty leading to a lifestyle, where he continue to be poor.
This story lacks the imagination how a poor person was an opportunist, who availed a golden opportunity or a silver opportunity for a good life keeping in tact his honestly. Whereas the woodcutter chooses, to turn down the golden and silver chances and decides to live in his miser comfort zone.
These are character barriers which the above story narrates and implants blind and pessimist character in the audience towards golden opportunities in life.

2. A greedy merchant gets rid of his bloom of turning everything he touched turn into gold.

The background of this story narrates, a rich miser and selfish merchant ( linking “riches” with negative character being “selfish”) pleases the Goddess of wealth and receives a boom of turning any object he touch, should turn into gold.
On being blessed, by such a boom he becomes over joyed initially but his blessings soon turns into a curse when he is unable to eat or drink anything because his food turns into gold as soon as he touches it, and he starves, he also mistakenly touches his daughter who turns into gold. And finally he regrets and concluded that money is no good in life and gets rid of his boom.
Again, this story is weak, and has a negatively impacting attitude towards money and riches.
The story portrays an imagination that being financially strong translates to bad health and disputed family life. Also creates a mental barrier that those who work hard with dedication and become capable to turn all that they touch into gold will lead to unhappiness in all aspects of life.
This story lacks how the merchant coped with his boom to achieve greater prosperity for self and society, keeping up his health and family happy.
Here there is more a mental destruction, than enhancement.

I would like to narrate a story that contrasts with the above negative beliefs.

3. Story of wit and cleverness of Tenali Raman.

Tenali is described as a very clever and learned person. At the beginning of his successful career he was guided by his Guru ( mentor), to worship the Goddess of wealth to give him directions. He followed the advice and undertook a very diligent worship and was successful in pleasing the Goddess. She appeared and brought along 2 bowls to choose from. One a golden bowl containing milk, which will bless him with riches but he will not have any intellect. On the other hand the sliver bowl containing curd, which will bless him in being a learned person but being poor all his life. Along, with a condition to, choose and eat the contents of only one bowl. And since Tenali Raman was a clever person he mixes the contents of sliver bowl into the golden bowl and eats from the golden bowl. Ensuring he is blessed with riches and intellect both. And thereby fulfills the condition of eating from only one bowl.
This story is a true example of using cleverness to have a financial abundant life along with great intelligence.
